Funko has released one of their POP! Vinyl Figures based on Greta Gerwig’s hit film Lady Bird and it’s an oddity. The latest figure in their A24 line has the giant head of a bird crudely plastered onto the legs of a human woman wearing a skirt and boots.
“Look, we didn’t actually watch the film, our man-power was behind making 40 different figures for each episode of Rick and Morty.”, admitted Funko spokesperson, Popgoes D’Weazl. “But we knew she was an edgy Catholic schoolgirl, and we had the film’s title, isn’t that enough? It was such a beloved film that we couldn’t leave it out, especially when Napoleon Dynamite got the bug-eyed treatment.”
Lady Bird joins several other A24 films that have gotten the Funko Pop figure treatment, including First Reformed, The Witch, The Disaster Artist, and Barely Lethal.
Pre-orders are available for this abomination. Let’s hope those involved actually watch The Killing of A Sacred Deer, and The Death of Dick Long before making Pops out of those films.
In unrelated news, Saoirse Ronan has joined the cast of the Sesame Street movie. Directed by Tim Burton, the cast already includes Timothée Chalamet as Elmo, and Danny Devito as Oscar the Grouch.
